xf86alsa··on Running your own secure communication service with Matrix and Jitsi
As of recent Riot/web versions old messages that can't be decrypted in rooms will not be shown (saves the user from being blasted with Unable to Decrypt errors).

So the messages are likely there, but you won't see them until you import your e2e keys.

xf86alsa··on Running your own secure communication service with Matrix and Jitsi
Jitsi is much easier to add in the latest Riot-web version. No longer do you need to set up your own integration manager. You just add the jitsi URL to Riot's config.json and you're done.
xf86alsa··on CERN Ends Trial of Facebook Workplace
How long ago did you try Riot? It's changed a lot in the past year, and with their encryption changes coming in the next few weeks it should be even nicer.
xf86alsa··on Give Firefox a chance
Perhaps Cookie AutoDelete could help? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-autode...

I use it to set which site I'd like to keep cookies for multiple sessions for, and which I'd like cookies to be forgotten for as soon as I've left. It doesn't have per-cookie granularity however, if that's what you're looking for.

xf86alsa··on Slack Is Going Public at a $16B Valuation
Can you explain? My understanding is that megolm (what Matrix uses) ratchets the session forward every hour or every 100 msgs, whichever first.
xf86alsa··on Google to restrict modern ad blocking Chrome extensions to enterprise users
Just a tip: old.reddit.com loads much faster than the reddit redesign.

You can use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/old-reddit-re... to always use that version automatically.

xf86alsa··on Chrome “clear cookies on exit” feature does not work
Surely you could open it in a separate tab in the same window and then drag the tab out into a new window?
xf86alsa··on Radicle: A decentralized alternative to GitHub built on IPFS
Also worth mentioning GitCenter (here's a public proxy link https://zn.amorgan.xyz/1GitLiXB6t5r8vuU2zC6a8GYj9ME6HMQ4t/re...) which runs on top of ZeroNet as is already in use by a number of people. Notably ZeroNet's source code is also mirrored here.

It has issues/PRs and the like, and content can be deleted quite easily.

Supports SVN too apparently.

xf86alsa··on Sway 1.0
Ideally you'd be using multiple workspaces, and only have 1-4 windows on a single given one.

I like to organize my workspaces by a category of activity. I'll have one per project I'm currently working on, then one for communications (Email, Chat, etc) one for web-browsing, etc.

I try to keep the non-project ones consistent, so at any point I can, say, tap Meta-9 and instantly be brought a web browser on Workspace 9.

xf86alsa··on Matrix at FOSDEM 2019
Was also at the talk. The room was packed!
xf86alsa··on Matrix at FOSDEM 2019
AFAIK Keybase is centralized while Matrix is federated, so you can set up and run your own Matrix server without worry of a central point of failure (or surveillance).
xf86alsa··on Security Checklist
AndOTP is also a nice alternative, providing encrypted key backups.
xf86alsa··on An Apology and an Update
If you do make any updates, feel free to throw them into the This Week in Matrix room which may catch some more dev's attention!

xf86alsa··on Does Australia's access and assistance law impact 1Password?
Asked a Swedish security firm this exact question the other day. They said they would not hire anyone from Australia anymore, which is a shame.
xf86alsa··on Spectrum is joining GitHub
It's worth sharing that the RAM and CPU usage requirements have gone down monumentally since the migration to python3.

Disroot's announcement was before the switch.

The team even talked about it with one of the devs in the latest Matrix Live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad3oqEo5leM

xf86alsa··on Decentralizing the web with Beaker
You haven't checked for quite a while then :)

ZeroNet has supported movie-sized files and up with it's BigFiles plugin since early this year. It's effectively done torrent style, downloading chunks from multiple peers, but working over TCP, with optional Tor support built in.

xf86alsa··on Picovoice – Embed private voice AI into any product instantly
Porcupine is just wake word detection, which in itself is very useful indeed.

Not sure what the plans for open sourcing the rest of the components are though.

xf86alsa··on My wonderful world of iOS
That's for frameworks and libraries though. This is for user-facing apps.
xf86alsa··on Cloudflare Ordered to Expose YTS, Showbox, and Popcorn Time Site 'Operators'
Yeah no torrenting is done over Tor here :) It's worth mentioning that ever since ZeroNet gained its BigFiles plugin, you can directly stream and watch the videos on ZeroNet. Just that nobody has made a nice interface for it yet.

There's sites like [KopyKate](https://zn.amorgan.xyz/big.kopykate.bit/), but they've sort of fallen downhill as the dev has stopped updating it.

xf86alsa··on Cloudflare Ordered to Expose YTS, Showbox, and Popcorn Time Site 'Operators'
ZeroNet really is the perfect platform for this. Web-based, users can submit content, entirely p2p, very nice UI. It's the perfect platform, but nobody knows about it.

If you're interested, you can download and check it out here: https://zeronet.io

You can also check it out without installing anything by visiting my proxy: https://zn.amorgan.xyz

Play is one such ZeroNet site for movies: http://localhost:43110/zeroplay.bit https://zn.amorgan.xyz/zeroplay.bit

Funnily enough TorrentFreak is mirrored on ZeroNet: http://localhost:43110/1JNqdTGVATFWRLzzYwVu19CuWYus5VmoUS/ https://zn.amorgan.xyz/1JNqdTGVATFWRLzzYwVu19CuWYus5VmoUS/

xf86alsa··on Going FLOSS-only on Android
Give Aurora Store a try as well, also in F-Droid. Nice UI on top of Yalp Store :)
xf86alsa··on IRC.com Bought by London Trust Media, Pledges an IRC Revival
https://matrix.org is essentially a modern IRC, but federated and completely FOSS. I suggest people drawn to an IRC-like experience without the proprietary nature of Slack and Discord [give it a shot](https://riot.im).
xf86alsa··on A Year Using Matrix and Riot

If DuckDuckGo is your default search engine, you can simply use its bangs instead.

Such as "!w term" for Wikipedia, "!a someitem" for Amazon, "!yt video name" for YouTube etc. Also see "!g term" for Google and/or "!s term" for Startpage, Google without tracking.
