Recovering sysadmin. Finnish weirdo. Totally not a robot.

Too bad it's still not in Debian.
a96··on There are now 5 inference providers for abliterated DeepSeek
All on cloud services. Have you got propaganda out of the open weights models?
a96··on LISPy things you can do in 64K bytes of core (2019)
Heh, I remember that and personally answering no when he complained about my paren formatting. I miss that channel.
a96··on Nietzschian Debugger
It's a trifecta of irony. Not Nietzschean, not anti-AI, and not a debugger.

No.

a96··on Root shell on Samsung TV
Maybe the rest were labeled as non-citizens. Or Google just has wrong numbers.
a96··on Root shell on Samsung TV
A lot of rooms are space constrained, but yes, even the cheapest phones are 1080p and most have been for a decade. It's ridiculous how far larger screens have been lagging behind.

Are we living in 1990 or something?

a96··on NixOS is making me less afraid
Guix already uses a real language instead.
a96··on It's still ok to enjoy programming
The point is that work isn't the meaning of your life or your self-actualization. Not that work is what you sacrifice most of your life to in order to make a living or fund something else you actually want.
a96··on How abliterated models can get you pwned
Really does smell like an agenda.
a96··on OpenBSD 8.0
Which reminds me of the Ralph Wiggum music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b403GtvwyEc
a96··on Verisign .com Domain Name Registry Consumer Class Action
You do not. Tor browser is just a browser and proxy baked together for convenience. You can use any proxy and any browser you want.

Actually, tor is also not browser centric at all either. It does TCP (if not more), so any protocol will do. Proxy is typically a SOCKS interface IIRC, so any client will often do as well.

a96··on Rabbits were a medieval royal luxury in England until the Black Death
Hare is pretty common game here in Finland and I think I must have eaten that fairly regularly when I was little but I have absolutely no recollection what it actually tasted like.

Only recipe I've seen was indeed a stew where the ingredients were almost "one rabbit, unholy amounts of garlic".

a96··on Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men
Yes. There are traps and many kinds of countries in "Europe", but in many of them you're guaranteed to never be homeless or starving or left without medical care long term if you accept the help.

Absolute one of the most basic cornerstones of psychology.

a96··on Tesla Roadster
Funnily enough, he was also the first person to get a driver's license IIRC.
a96··on Using AI to reverse engineer hardware
Musicians want electronics made on schematics from 1930's with better quality parts or designs of wood and metal from 1400-1800. (Ones with sponsors even use the original pieces and not reproductions, check any large orchestra.) And then there's the ones using only/mostly software... based on circuits from 1930's and simulating math and designs from 1400-1800.
a96··on Writing a Demoscene Intro for the ZX Spectrum
Apart from being on a Microsoft service and requiring Microsoft accounts to interact with. At least cloning still works in one direction.

(Love the project, though.)

a96··on Citroen revives the 2CV for an electric age
Original Ioniq is pretty close. There's a screen for media, nav and backup, but that's it. I think there's others I've seen that hit close.
a96··on Nix wrote half of my debugger
https://guix.gnu.org/ might fix the language by replacing it with a real one.
a96··on OpenSCAD the Programmers Solid 3D CAD Modeller
With the abomination that is Javascript, based on the name?
a96··on OpenSCAD the Programmers Solid 3D CAD Modeller
FreeCAD has picked up things at an incredible pace lately.
a96··on The Corporate Happiness Treadmill and the Case for Doing Less
Nobody's in the in group. Even the politicians running the system fall out of the in group regularly. It's an inherently leopards eating faces system.
a96··on A Remote Employee Refused 160 Webcam Photos a Day. Her Employer Fired Her
There goes the VPN.
a96··on apsw: Another Python SQLite Wrapper
Seems to even be in Debian as https://packages.debian.org/trixie/python3-apsw Nice!
a96··on Man discovers his parents' coffee machine used 1TB of data in 10 days
I don't recall when I bought mine. This century, but just barely. Needs new seals after some years of use and those are easily available.

It is objectively bad since the water is way too hot, but I still like it. And now I'm tempted to make more coffee.

a96··on Forever junior: Skills AI can't develop for you
The foundation of all learning and intelligence being a luxury for the wealthy is such a fantastically American sounding idea.
a96··on Margaret Hamilton has died
"Chick" is incredibly disrespectful, though. Maybe period correct, which makes it even more so.
