This is great! I’ve been exploring a similar idea with Shopify merchants https://lobsterstores.com/

Each merchant has an MCP. I’m building a directory and creating a skill that lets clankers discover and interact with their MCPs. I receive a checkout link to securely complete the payment.

I've been thinking what the "agent" side means for a merchant, building yet another chatbot is not really interesting. I'm talking with some merchants and trying to figure out the answer to that question.

abuiles··on WorldBrain's Memex: Bookmarking for the power users of the web
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned https://web.hypothes.is/ --- it's a non-profit trying to solve the same idea. They are actually trying to advance on the ideas of the w3c annotation's working group and do everything open source.
abuiles··on Understanding Ethereum Smart Contracts
re: tooling

I've been using Truffle too. My biggest issue when getting started was the cognitive overload. If you want to try Truffle I wrote a couple of simple guides that helps you deploy your first Ethereum smart contract to a test net https://blog.abuiles.com/blog/2017/07/09/deploying-truffle-c...

abuiles··on Ask HN: Books on specific topics that have applied to many areas of your life?
Interesting! Those things are exactly what the book tells you not to do.
abuiles··on Ask HN: Books on specific topics that have applied to many areas of your life?
"Start with no" by Jim Camp ;)

+1 on "Nonviolent Communication" - if anyone is interested I have some directive like notes from the book here https://blog.abuiles.com/reading-feed/nonviolent-communicati... -- going through the book is important for the context but this can give you a quick overview of what it is about.

Other books in my list are:

- Punished by rewards by Alfie Kohn

- On the shortness of life by Seneca

abuiles··on Show HN: Readwise – Review and retain your Kindle highlights
Super interesting, I did a small tool for myself for this same purpose. Is a mix between highlights and Evernote https://kintrospect.com/
abuiles··on Leonard Cohen Makes It Darker
One of the episodes of Revisionist History talks about genius and different types of innovation, through the episode they talk about Cohen and how his song Hallelujah was not an overnight success. Cohen worked on it over 5 years to get it to a point where he was comfortable with!

Dylan is also mentioned in that episode, since they had some kind of mutual admiration. Apparently Dylan and Cohen meetup at some point and Dylan asked Leonard how long it took him to write Hallelujah and he lied saying "2 years". Then Cohen asked Dylan how long it took him write "I and I" and Dylan said: "oh, like 15 minutes".

If you are interested in exploring more, I annotated a bunch of fun facts from that episode https://www.listeningcrowd.com/podcasts/1-revisionist-histor...

abuiles··on Ask HN: It's Jan 1 and you're building a new Saas app: What framework do you pick?
+1 on this, Ember + Rails is a really cool combination, also check http://ember-cli.com/ (and if you want to learn Ember, I wrote a book https://leanpub.com/ember-cli-101).
abuiles··on Ask HN: How much recurring income do you generate and from what?
I wrote and publish a book through leanpub about Ember.js: ember-cli-101[1]. I started to sell it without finishing it and it was bringing about $500/mo, but now that is completed sells are going up. I hope it would be above $2000/mo for the following months.

abuiles··on How to set up an Online Tutoring Business. A Programmer's Guide [pdf]
This is great! I do something like this but is more focused to companies, basically they pay me X monthly and I'm available to help them with Ember.js.

I do not offer a signup button because I don't want to take every company, I prefer to talk with them first, understand what they are doing, and then decide if I take them as clients or not.

hey man, send me an email builes.adolfo@gmail.com if you want to grab a coffee.
abuiles··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (December 2013)
Got an email I can contact you? Not related directly with the position, but interesting to hear how are you using Ember.js.
abuiles··on Rails will Ruby-kill Meteor — on why

abuiles··on Show HN: It's hard to make friends offline, so we built a solution
I really like the concept, I was thinking on something like this a while ago, but it was around the concept of going out to dinner with someone, sometimes you want to try a new restaurant but your friends are maybe busy or they don't fancy the food, even though you could go on your own, eating alone is not always fun.
abuiles··on The Art of Finding Anyone’s Email Addresses
I wanted to contact people from some companies but their email was not in their profiles, I found this script in github https://github.com/laramies/theHarvester which looks for emails given a domain.

Is super useful, even though It wouldn't give me the email I was looking for, it would show me the "structure" used for emails inside the company:

   first_name@domain.com
   first_name.last_name@domain.com
Based on that I would just guest the email of the person and it used to work perfectly.

This is perfect for doing customer development, also if you are doing cold reach outs remember to follow the CAN-SPAM act.

abuiles··on Dear HN "Who's Hiring" responders
agree with this, actually I prefer to write to people who post <name>@<company.com> rather than jobs@.

I feel it is a more personalized chat :)

abuiles··on Show HN: My side project – Do I need a visa for...?
I know I'm required to have visa for a bunch of places but not sure which ones, would be really cool to see given your nationality all the countries for which you are required to have visa.

btw, I'm Colombian, we don't need visa for Russia and Turkey (Data not available yet in your DB).

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
Companies hiring you will likely not want to pay more than the market rate for you, where "market" is defined as your geographical area.

That's true, I remember a client once asking me why was my rate so much higher than the average (I'm located in Colombia).

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
Have you been through one of this situations?

I agree with this, as a freelancer/remote worker, one of your key assets is communication.

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
I remember reading your post. Really good stuff, I remember meeeting a couple of guys from couchbase in Berlin.
abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
Thanks for you answer :), yeah, I know time zones is one of the main problems companies faced.

How about this: if you were highly skilled and experienced, as a rule you would have moved to the US for the greater opportunity and the big bucks

Makes sense, though there are a couple of things to consider one of them is visa issues. Also, not everyone wants to live in the U.S or Europe or leaving their hometown.

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
Just search "remote" in http://hnhiring.com/
abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
Actually that's something I would like more about, Isn't easy for a company to hire a contractor in other country?

I've worked as contractor for companies in the U.S and Germany, normally I would just send them a receipt and received my money without problems in my bank (I did have to take care of the taxes in my country).

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
What you said is true, but you can also find horrible code written by people in the U.S, so is not an I'm an American and you not issue.

I've seen projects like the one you mention above too, they were people who hired guys for $5/hour and expect to have the best work in the world. You get what you paid, I guess.

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
See my comment here http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5247350 ;)
abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
That's true. Also I have noticed a couple of things here, one is that if you are American companies will have more willingness to hire you remotely or outsource work for you.

For instance I know at least 3 companies owned by Americans in my city, all their customers are in the U.S, the developers all locals, and they just act as "middleman". Seems like there are still some cultural barriers here?

abuiles··on Ask HN: On companies hiring remote developers and why don't you do it?
Have you tried writing to the companies who say "remote" in the "Who's hiring thread"? What do they say?
