> I mapped out all the public bathrooms in a six block radius. Nobody wants to pee next to their boss. It’s disgusting and humiliating.

... what?

Anyone got any more information on "Basically an iPad in 1981" - the Ohio Computers Centerpoint?

antinitro··on Passive Income Hacker vs Startup Guy
Maybe good advice, but I'd recommend having a few months wages as a cushion.
antinitro··on An open letter to Jeff Bezos: A contract worker’s take on Amazon.com
I assumed the work he was doing was at a higher level than that - i.e. creating the software which allows the end user to see these annotations. In this case, it would need ongoing maintenance, which would be done best by a full time team who understand the code.

Either way, if he's good at what he does, it would make sense for the company to keep him on even if they move him to another project.

antinitro··on Anxiety: Nothing to Do but Embrace the Dread
This is an incredibly well written reply; it sums up the basics of mindfulness in a very short space. Have you written any more on the subject?

This is a very weak feature to be touting as a reason to move...
antinitro··on The doctors give me 30 days to live, each post is potentially my last
Yeah I agree with this. I seem to have reached a point in life where I don't really think about the past and future often, but I wouldn't say I've quite reached enlightenment yet.
antinitro··on The doctors give me 30 days to live, each post is potentially my last
Yes, I already meditate daily and have noticed profound changes in perspective and mindset. I can't recommend anything more!
antinitro··on The doctors give me 30 days to live, each post is potentially my last
That really puts life in perspective. Enlightenment, I suppose, is living every day as if it's your last. I wonder how to reach that mindset.
antinitro··on Show HN: Assent.js - lightweight inline form validation
Quick note, I realise there are already well supported libraries that do this, such as the excellent parsley.js [1].

This was a just for fun project to work on my coding skills! The approach is different and it is very lightweight - working out at just 16kb before minification and 5kb after.

Enjoy.

antinitro··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (December 2012)
SEEKING WORK - remote or local, Nottingham, UK

I'm a developer with a lot of Javascript experience. I've used javascript to modify leading UK retailers websites to increase conversions.

I've only recently started freelancing so I'm very available and have competitive rates.

I also have knowledge of: Ruby, Python, PHP and Classic ASP.

Thanks!

antinitro··on Writing a basic jQuery tutorial with Grunt & QUnit
Is it really worth writing so many tests for a small jQuery plugin?
antinitro··on [dead]
Maybe because python has been around a lot longer than rails which is when ruby really exploded. Newer web design techniques allow for better looking websites.
antinitro··on How I lost 10% body fat, while launching a startup (and raising kids)
I thought the same. It makes more sense to me to split up back and chest to different days and do shoulders on the chest day. I believe the 3 largest muscle groups are legs, back and chest and I split my workouts into a day for each of those.
antinitro··on Cookie-tracking deadline: Sites pressed to meet deadline
I honestly think this is a stupid idea. Feels as if it's another case where someone at the top with no understanding of how the web works has decided to lay down their 'authoritah' with no regard for it's outcome. The whole political system is a shambles when it comes to anything web related. We need people with real, cast iron experience of the web to help make decisions which don't have such negative impacts.

First SOPA, now this.

antinitro··on Steve Jobs' Wilderness Years: The Lost Tapes
I think it's a very important mindset to have, especially within a startup. I'm going to make a conscious effort to evaluate aspects of my life in the same way. As with anything, repeated use develops the 'muscle' required to do this quickly and I see it being a very valuable skill.
antinitro··on Steve Jobs' Wilderness Years: The Lost Tapes
"At his memorial service, Laurene remarked that what struck her most upon really getting to know him was his "fully formed aesthetic sense." He knew exactly what he liked, and he analyzed it until he could tell you precisely why."

I find this quote very interesting. To analyse exactly why you like something obviously puts you in a place where you can easily critique and improve on ideas.

antinitro··on Kicking It Forward
The idea is great.

I think the icon could do with some work to make it look a bit more professional though.

antinitro··on Tumblr Architecture - 15B Page Views a Month and Harder to Scale than Twitter
I'm a bit younger (19, M, UK) and a lot of my facebook friends seem to use it. I think it appeals to a youngish demographic.
antinitro··on One Man’s HTML5 Developer Workflow
I agree. Once you settle into vim, your productivity increases threefold. I can copy the contents of a string and paste it somewhere else in about 6 keystrokes.

I've not yet found anything that can compare.
