chacha2··on A theory that “elite overproduction” leads to political instability (2020)
“I see in the fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars, advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of the history man, no purpose or place, we have no Great war, no Great depression, our great war is a spiritual war, our great depression is our lives, we've been all raised by television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars, but we won't and we're slowly learning that fact. and we're very very pissed off.”
chacha2··on Blender and the Rabbids
The industry doesn't appreciated that blender can mesh edit and sculpt? What can it do that their existing software can't?

It is the struggle, itself, that is important!
chacha2··on What if plants were animals like any other?
> Trying to pretend we can erase any and all suffering we may cause ever is a fruitless effort.

I wouldn't be so sure. Eduard Hartmann came up with a solution in the 19th century.

chacha2··on Gemini's "uselessness" is its killer feature
What good is competing implementations if they all have to keep to the same spec?
chacha2··on Gemini's "uselessness" is its killer feature
It's a shame it can't add on any innovations that didn't make the cut to the current web, such as Ted Nelsons parallel documents.

Seems like any interest in making technology more than a replica of reality has disappeared. Maybe its even going the opposite direction, that what we have in reality is too complicated to recreate so the digital becomes more constrictive than the real thing.

chacha2··on The depth of Bill Gates' ties with Epstein
But there was a "VIP pedophile ring" ? You're not a crazed conspiracy theoriest when it turns out to be true.
chacha2··on The depth of Bill Gates' ties with Epstein
> She chose to describe “herself as an ‘internet operator’” during this period

Interesting considering the theory she was the reddit power mod /u/maxwellhill who became inactive after her arrest

Not really, the iPhone planned to do the same thing.
chacha2··on The X.Org Foundation is joining calls for RMS to be removed
You wouldn't catch RMS advocating free software on twitter...
chacha2··on Lost in Thought: Psychological Risks of Meditation
If they were to abandon that pressure they might have a much harder time keeping a routine and proper work out.
chacha2··on The world will only get weirder
> To paraphrase Peter Thiel, new technology is probably so fertile and productive simply because there are so few rules. It’s essentially illegal for you to build anything physical these days from a toothbrush (FDA regulates that) to a skyscraper, but there’s zero restriction on creating a website. Hence, that’s where all the value is today.

If websites are this man’s ideal, thank god for regulations.

chacha2··on Low Earth Orbit Visualization
What is New Zealand up to? Looks dangerous.
chacha2··on Element Matrix Services Announces Element Home
This would be insane for anyone outside of HN. $10 a month for a 5 person chat? They know everyone can get this free elsewhere for decades now? A 5 person Signal group would even have higher security.
