iAMkenough··on RAM Altman: Linux Script Emails Sam Altman Daily How Much Unused RAM in Your PC
The irony in you determining what is and isn’t HN, simply by if it’s “many users” vs “many companies” spamming someone.

I would assume YC-funded AI crawlers spamming a website with requests is “very HN” and “not DOS” in your mind.

iAMkenough··on Anthropic IPO buyers see valuation as low as $1.1T
I’m expecting that to decrease, not increase.
iAMkenough··on Apple CEO Presses Software Chief to Pursue More Ambitious AI Strategy
Apple pushing top talent to competitors reminds me of Apple 1994.
iAMkenough··on Claude usage credits purchased after Dec 7 will expire 12 months after purchase
In other words: don’t buy a year’s worth of credits.

Only give us money more frequently, otherwise you might give us too much money, which we’ll happily keep without giving you what you originally paid for.

How often do gift cards lose their balance after 12 months? Seems like a bad deal for consumers.

iAMkenough··on Outbound SIP calling is now available to all organizations
That’s honestly more frustrating, given call and SMS spam is more prevalent than fax or email spam for me. Those systems just have better (but not infallible) consumer-side protections.

Get with the times, Congress.

iAMkenough··on Outbound SIP calling is now available to all organizations
Is that why I’m suddenly getting fax spam this year?

Every few weeks, it’s either a fake invoice or investment pitch.

Since I receive them as a PDF in an email, I wonder if prompt injection via fax has been done.

iAMkenough··on About the Illuminated Apple Logo on MacBook Pro with Proled XDR Display
Once again, here is Apple encouraging its users to paste random sudo commands into Terminal.app instead of just providing a toggle in System Settings.

Steve Jobs would be so proud.

iAMkenough··on Anthropic IPO buyers see valuation as low as $1.1T
I think that’d be appropriate.
iAMkenough··on Anthropic IPO buyers see valuation as low as $1.1T
I’m angling for it to go out at $250b.
iAMkenough··on Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production
Personally, I think it looks like a silver dumpster.

To those that downvoted, I’m sorry my opinion offended you.

iAMkenough··on Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash
Uhg that’s my issue. I keep getting it mixed up with https://wave.google.com/

Go with the Flow, don’t ride the Wave.

iAMkenough··on Basically no one is using AI agents for their DoorDash orders
Yeah, I definitely want to buy a $1,799 mobile device from OpenAI that has a dynamic, AI-generated user interface I navigate by voice. It will be revolutionary.
iAMkenough··on Basically no one is using AI agents for their DoorDash orders
I’m still waiting for voice commands for controlling your computer to take off.

They’ve been around since at least the 90s, but the keyboard and mouse still are dominant.

Will well performing voice models eliminate the need for touchscreen devices?

iAMkenough··on The Election Day Revolt That Threatens America's AI Boom
They make for great targets in foreign conflicts.
iAMkenough··on Apple Will Scan Public iCloud Links for Harmful Content Starting in iOS 27.3
For now that’s true for older machines, even though other OSes can’t really make full use of the hardware (yet).

I wouldn’t put it past the Ternus-run company to issue a firmware update that breaks third-party boot loaders for existing hardware, and simultaneously hinder third-party development on upcoming hardware.

iAMkenough··on Flock (YC 2018) Re-Connects Camera Disabled by Police Chief
As of last month, yes.

iAMkenough··on Flock (YC 2018) Re-Connects Camera Disabled by Police Chief
Looks like a County road, which I believe the County Sheriff would have jurisdiction over.

I don’t see any attempt to obtain a comment from Hennepin County in this biased reporting.

iAMkenough··on Show HN: OnCue – A clock my 4-year-old can read
I like the concept. I’m going to reimplement this as a single page web app I have more control over for my kid.
iAMkenough··on AI data centers comprehensively defeated at US midterm elections
The nice thing about politicians is they can be held accountable by constituents, per the Constitution.

Data center developers, who should be equally distrusted (but seem to get a pass), are not beholden to you.

It will take developers and politicians working together to find a solution, rather than let developers do whatever they can to maximize profits without regulation or public process.

iAMkenough··on US voters roundly reject data centers in ballot measures
Which is what Republicans were already doing, while agreeing to NDAs that kept their constituents in the dark.

With the mandate from voters, hopefully we see less secret development and more open communication about the deals being cut.

iAMkenough··on Apple opens the door to a nightmare world of always-listening tech
Apple lawyers will argue you can’t access the audio or transcript directly, just an AI interpretation of what was said.

Like someone next to you on a train recalling from memory what you said to your boss.

iAMkenough··on Apple opens the door to a nightmare world of always-listening tech
Opt-in for the owner of the wearable device, not for the people being listened to.

Kind of like Meta’s approach to those glasses that record everyone you look at, except without an indicator the owner has to cover up or disable.

iAMkenough··on Show HN: HackerTV – HN's most-recommended Youtube videos as 24/7 TV channels
I was expecting talk radio, but I'm enjoying the music too!
iAMkenough··on Apple opens the door to a nightmare world of always-listening tech
The untested loophole is you can't access the audio or direct transcript, just a "summary" of everything everyone around you says.
iAMkenough··on Show HN: HackerTV – HN's most-recommended Youtube videos as 24/7 TV channels
Now we need HackerRadio to run in the background.
iAMkenough··on Elon Musk throttles Grok Bot limits due to 'unsustainably high' costs
I thought that’s what sponsors and advertisers are for. Let the Saudis cover the remaining bill.
iAMkenough··on Ubuntu still has not released patch for Linux 0day RCE in almost 3 weeks
Same for Flock cameras, running a 2017 kernel.
iAMkenough··on Apple reports fourth quarter results
Apple can pivot Siri pretty easily.
iAMkenough··on Never Complain, Never Explain
> where being duped with propaganda into believing falsehoods should not be something to look up to.

I agree, but believe we’re now in a regressive society, moving as fast as we can to repeat history, investing vast resources into effortless propaganda machines.
