Inception Mercury 3 and Particle-1's model are also good.

(I am assuming Inception is an American company, not sure TBH)

npc99··on Yassamin Ansari: Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 pause on advanced AI dev
> It's not silly, it's business as usual. Notice how quickly the "top of the Democratic agenda" switched away from the bait of legitimate issues... "on day 1", no less. Of course, bailing out the AI bros is what this is really about.

This is one random Congresswoman's tweet, it's not the official Democratic agenda for the next Congress. Fuck off.

npc99··on Yassamin Ansari: Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 pause on advanced AI dev
<I did not know which Hinton the above person was referring to, so excising this comment>
npc99··on Yassamin Ansari: Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 pause on advanced AI dev
> US taxpayer money should not bail out these businesses.

Totally agreed--but that's not what she's saying though (?)

I probably would have voted for her if I was in her district (and still would), but she's saying some dumb shit TBH. She's saying we should somehow legally force certain companies in a specific industry to cease R&D and that we should ban something amorphous that hasn't been developed/invented yet.

Her tweet is some Trump supporter style thinking. It's silly.

I would love to see the Dems take this mandate and do something productive with it, not be caricatures in their own right.

npc99··on Yassamin Ansari: Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 pause on advanced AI dev
It's a bad and pointless idea, but the top replies to that Tweet are also stupid and unhinged.
npc99··on Ask HN: What's your current AI agentic setup?
Mostly Pi, using a variety of models, but mostly GPT 5.6 line of models.

I try to use open weight and cheap models as much as possible.

npc99··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
I use AI extensively to develop software, but IDK if I would say "coding is solved".

LLMs still mess up a lot if you just let them loose and don't guide what they do.

npc99··on Anthropic's growth just flattened
> They are. That's the problem. The obligations that these companies are, on paper, supposed to meet require these valuations.

How does that make sense lol

"it owes a bunch of people money, so it should be worth more"

i don't...

npc99··on Anthropic reports $17B in Q3 revenue, commitments of $895B in revised S-1
You are misunderstanding a number of things aggressively.

For one thing, one needn't run a model locally, that's a separate--but also very damning--issue.

For another, that's fine if Anthropic and OpenAI can do that, but they will have sunk a bunch of cost into their own training already and people wouldn't pay them what they need when there is always a vastly cheaper substitute that gets the job done.

npc99··on Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power
There is no reasoning with someone who looks at Trump's America and thinks it's fine except "the Marxists"
npc99··on I'm a Proton employee and I'm breaking my silence
if true, seems like a kiss-ass who can't be trusted
npc99··on Proton CEO Andy Yen: "This will be the last year that we hire engineers."
Guess I will be finding a new email provider...

Can anyone recommend good alternatives?

npc99··on Amazon Is Gutting Its AI Division After Sustained Failure
?? Do you think the rest of us are retarded? Jeff Bezos and Elon and Zuckerberg et al. love him, donated to him, etc. He gives tax cuts to the rich. The Republicans have, for as long as any of us have been alive, been more explicitly the party of the rich than the Democrats.

The fact they are consistently able to get a bunch of dumbass poor rural rubes to vote for them out of various forms of ignorance and bigotry doesn't change that.

I want to call your post "low-effort propaganda", but it falls short even of that. Like you're running around trying to tell people that clouds are made of marshmallows or something.

npc99··on Laid off 60 days in: what is the tech industry doing to developers?
Capitalism gonna capitalism. Why would an "industry" act in the way this writer views as normatively good?

I am surprised there aren't better worker protections in the UK to prevent getting laid off so quickly.

npc99··on GitHub suspended my account, and I couldn't submit a support ticket
I don't disagree that it's probably a violation of GitHub TOS, but I don't think it's like substantively negative behavior, if that makes sense.

Like if he was spamming other peoples repos programmatically, then, yes, I would agree he should not expect sympathy from the rest of us.

Not gonna die on this hill though; seemed like a pointless and somewhat odd thing for OP to do lol

npc99··on GitHub suspended my account, and I couldn't submit a support ticket
Why? It was his own repo.
npc99··on AI promised less work. I've never worked more
They are probably adding up Anthropic + a number of other companies
npc99··on Anthropic S-1
I think you either grossly misread my comment or are responding to someone else, because my position seems to be pretty much the same as yours
npc99··on Anthropic S-1
How is it not clear that LLMs are being increasingly commoditized and that the foundation model producers are in a bad race to the bottom with each other AND cheap open-weight competition?

Not even just from Chinese models, but from companies/labs like Mercury

npc99··on Prisoner loses challenge to an Australian state’s ban on inmates eating Vegemite
When I first heard about the case, I assumed prisoner was suing because he was being forced to accept toast with vegemite already on it or something, but turns out it was the opposite lol
npc99··on Challenge Is Gone
yeah, fresh air, appreciating parenting, how awful and dystopian

much worse than having one's identity entirely subsumed by typing code and reading software documentation

npc99··on Challenge Is Gone
> it also will solve everything that makes life worthwhile.

It's going to solve your kids? Or eating food? Or enjoying fresh air?

npc99··on Bringing uv and ty together
what is a "project manager" in this context?

I think it's safe to say most of us who use `uv` use it as a package manager.

npc99··on Bringing uv and ty together
I think part of ty's pitch is also that it's very simple to set up. I think only Pyright compares in this regard. I tried Pyrefly once and recall it being a bit more involved to start using.
npc99··on Woman charged with computer fraud due to scam CashApp account being in her name
Good. DA should focus on a rational plan to tackle high-impact crimes, not drug offenses.
npc99··on Ask HN: Are we giving away our civilization?
You think something triaging your emails and completing paperwork for you is "giving away...civilization"?

Nice.

AI-generated PR desc is less nice though :e
