Which most take off the couple of bills for processing fee's.

DDG uses bing as it's backend.

not to mention being able to rotate it which portrait feels better with code and nice as a secondary dedicated.
reshie··on LineageOS 20
all roms need root.
reshie··on GNU nano is my editor of choice (2021)
it is good for basic edits like configuration files.

vim does just as well and has a lot more functionality universally.

reshie··on When Algorithms Rule, Values Can Wither
probably the difference is we have systems in place. religion and other social structures. as systems go so can machines have systems but is less interpretive for better or worse.
reshie··on A self-updating list of the most current useragents
it is so easy to spoof and really does not matter in usage except desktop/mobile. there are so many analytics out side that that it is indeed antiquated.
reshie··on A Linux Evening
gentoo gets pretty close for a full OS system.
reshie··on FCC Bans Authorizations for Devices That Pose National Security Threat
it is probably paranoia but not improbable. they have direct control of these companies and can totally do this. others like the US would have to go less direct routes for these things.
reshie··on The New Smoking (2021)
interestingly you had head shops(paraphernalia) before legalization. everyone knew what they where for but nothing illegal until it was used for that specifically. you can even buy crack pipes in some of the seedier neighborhood stores.
reshie··on The real world of compulsive hoarders (2013)
there was a mentality mostly from the depression era where it kind of got to hording in the when there was excess that mentality never changed much for that generation.

it is all measured its the extremes that are bad and really applies to anything.

reshie··on World’s largest exoskeleton mech suit inspires a new sport
i know right looks more like a vehicle. we sit in a car and operate it but do not call it a exoskeleton.

i think a true exoskeleton is something that accentuates our form to improve how we can physically do something.

i think alien(the movie) has a good image of a exoskeleton basically a fork truck in effect that can move things though.

reshie··on Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts (2020)
in other words science is a method of inquiry.

the problem is most people do not have the expertise and/or time it takes; some trust in so called experts is ok to a degree.

reshie··on $ rm Important.txt (uh oh)
well at least it does not overwrite it it could possibly be recovered. a backup trash folder is a good idea for those things aliases are great for a lot of things including larger scripts that would probably be in a separate file.

shred or similar functions do overwrite files.

reshie··on Things people blamed on bicycles
true but..

it is fear of uncertainty. not knowing how to deal with something or even assess because you don't know the problem.

there is big business in people with answers as well con men.

reshie··on An incident impacting 5M accounts and private information on Twitter
seems more about doxing and in this case large scale.

being able to attach identities to numbers.

as for brut forcing I'm sure they have limited attempts among other measures.

reshie··on If the news is fake, imagine history
not only interpretations of it but those writing it.

look at archeology and how we interpret those from a those who wrote something down. there is of course other interpretations from other indications of more direct evidence but a lot of times we do not get those in conjunction with written records.

reshie··on EverQuest’s long, strange 20-year trip still has no end in sight (2019)
it had another name. evercrack.
reshie··on AI can't tell you it's lying if it thinks it's telling the truth
sure. unless they lie with that too.
reshie··on Six companies control 90% of what you read, watch, and hear
but they have editors. filters have always been around in one form or another.
reshie··on Windows needs a change in priorities
you can start programs with just X. i use simple WMs but have put kodi in its own dedicated session. its kind of like kiosk mode.
reshie··on The campaign to shut down YouTube-dl continues
it is practically a wget for web videos and can be forwarded to like mpv. you should look at the supported sites it is quite extensive and youtube being a humble beginning.
reshie··on New atomic clock loses only one second every 300B years
a lot of clocks sync to them. you can get table clocks that do as well.
reshie··on Android 13 virtualization lets Pixel 6 run Windows 11, Linux distributions
have to also figure out cooling at that level as well. hell even my laptop can get pretty hot. its definitely is a good step in that direction though.
reshie··on Final Fantasy VI – Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition
probably not. if your into old school console rpgs ya(even remastered version). probably if your into anime as well to an extent.
reshie··on Installing Every Arch Package
now try with gentoo with no prebuilt pkg's. the end really says a lot about arch though even if it does have edges ;).
reshie··on Searching for Susy Thunder
it does fit a specific definition. it manipulates to get information. hacking manipulates software to get information they would not otherwise have access too as well.
reshie··on An Experience with Modafinil
i too think its more about the economics of it. Territory and business with in the criminal element is cut throat.
reshie··on Why might you run your own DNS server?
even just cashed is useful for normal users.
reshie··on Google introduces mandatory 2-Step Verification for Google Accounts
somthing you have and something you know. a password can be hacked remotely. something you have is more involved. these are layees if security. some are better than others and there are gimicks like some forms of recovery.
