Senior engineer, 13+ years. Startups, Amazon, Blue Origin, Anduril, defense and robotics autonomy.

I was the key engineer on Blue Origin's company-wide self-service HPC platform, used by programs including BE-4. Before that I spent five years at Amazon on the global Middle Mile platform. At Anduril I led a small team on Dive-XL mission-planning controls. Most recently I built bare-metal GPU CI for robotics autonomy, on hardware that cloud runners cannot touch.

I am seeking senior or staff IC and leadership work. Available now.

urda··on The Kimi K3 Moment
It really is not, not sure what OP is on about.
urda··on Digital euro clears key hurdle as EU seeks to break free from U.S. credit cards
Rest of the world: most of us figured out how to use credit as a tool without tumbling into a spending pit. Takes a bit of discipline, sure but not impossible.

"I use debit because I can manage my finances" reads as "I don't trust myself with credit." If credit is a trap you have to avoid, that's not the flex you think it is.

It's a tool. Some people use it. Some people are scared of it.

urda··on Hetzner Price Adjustment
It's so bad I will be looking at moving off Hetzner at this point. 3x is too much.
urda··on Goodbye to Sora
I honestly forgot about Sora until this post, and yeah same behavior played with it for a bit, then moved on with my life.
urda··on When did the job market get so rude?
> I'm in a hiring position, and I would blacklist any candidate that wasted my time like this.

> It's childish and just adds to the current state of Gen Z making it impossible to hire them (and then complaining they can never find a job).

This is an unacceptable interviewing posture. As a Bar Raiser (or whatever your equivalent is) with authority over interview standards and interviewer eligibility, I’d pull you from loops for retraining. Repeat it, and you’re removed from interviewing.

urda··on AirPods live translation blocked for EU users with EU Apple accounts
> Show the fact that the EU made the decision to not have this feature instead of apple.

It is thanks to EU regulations, which are literal facts in front of us. That’s why the feature isn’t shipped in the EU, because of EU’s own choices. At this point it’s clear you’d rather ignore that, so no reason to keep engaging. One last time: this is on the EU, not Apple.

urda··on Building my childhood dream PC
The rise of retro computing and gaming is wonderful thing.
urda··on AirPods live translation blocked for EU users with EU Apple accounts
You’re free to have that feeling but that’s not the facts.
urda··on AirPods live translation blocked for EU users with EU Apple accounts
One last time: this is on the EU, not Apple. The feature works everywhere else. You’re mixing up feelings with facts, and it shows in this rant. Take a breather.
urda··on AirPods live translation blocked for EU users with EU Apple accounts
You can blame the EU for that, not Apple.
urda··on Dropbox Paper mobile App Discontinuation
I'm still sad what they did to the Mailbox app...

urda··on Valve confirms credit card companies pressured it to delist certain adult games
Honestly glad to see this has sparked larger talks about this again. Surprised to see Valve is just now getting impacted by this.
urda··on Firefox-patch-bin, librewolf-fix-bin AUR packages contain malware
If Arch is too "inconvenient" as a daily driver, you might find yourself more at "home" on a Windows install instead.
urda··on Let's Learn x86-64 Assembly (2020)
It's always a great way to get a better understanding of things but at least just poking around assembly a bit once. You do not have to make a project or anything big, but do not be afraid to check it out.
urda··on Show HN: Ten years of running every day, visualized
Hah oh my this was on the wrong HN article I had open. Thank you so much for kindly pointing that out.

(oh no this was on the wrong comment and alas past the delete window ha).
urda··on Let me pay for Firefox
> It's unclear to me that you need to pay more than $150K total compensation for a good SW engineer.

I, and many good or great SWE's, wouldn't even begin to entertain such a low offer. Your numbers are a little off.

urda··on Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update
You bypass it by installing Firefox.
urda··on Belkin ending support for older Wemo products
I also have the shades, I love the entire Lutron system.
urda··on Belkin ending support for older Wemo products
My Meross plugs have been very stable. Have not had to reset them, reconfigure them, rehome them, re-pair them, etc.

For light switches I tell everyone I know it is either LUTRON or nothing. Your time is not worth messing with anything else, and Lutron has been in the game long enough they have demonstrated commitment to their products. Finally, my Lutron system has been one of the few IoT devices I have ever had that was truly "set and forget". Once the Lutron switches and shades were bound, they have been perfect ever since for me.

urda··on Figma files for proposed IPO
That’s one way to frame it, but it’s missing the power imbalance. Loveable was the smaller party here, Figma suddenly turned hostile when their success overlapped with a feature Figma hadn’t monetized yet.

“Used the moment” sounds a lot like surviving a punch and then asking for help. If you think that’s scheming, maybe revisit who threw the first punch.

urda··on Figma files for proposed IPO
Don't forget how Figma bullied Loveable from being able to use "dev mode" [1].
