vablings··on Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
> Leftists are equally as authoritarian because of the social control policies implemented during COVID

In the western world how many of these COVID controls remain in place as of today?

vablings··on Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
Interesting in the same sentence you directly foot gunned yourself.

First of all, the bipartisan bill would have de-facto ended catch and release due to significantly ended "Catch and release" or Notice to Appear since there was now sufficient capacity to adjudicate.

You are correct 10 million were not substantially deported because a majority of them never entered at all that 10 million figure is just a downright lie. Based on the data from Title 42 expulsions around half of that 10 million were people sent back.

"The bipartisan bill would've still allowed in thousands of people per day."

Funny because if we take your (lies) about 10 million the legislation would have cut that down by 80% on just the caps alone. Increase in adjudication and the end of catch and release (if we assume all of the 2 million getaways are entirely dishonest) then it would be less than 10% of that figure.

Perfect is the enemy of good or something like that.

> But did the Minnesota 15 commit actual crimes? There's lots of hyperbole "15 terabytes of data" but in the end it centers on investigations into the Minnesota 15 and doesn't answer this question. The Minnesota 15 are not accused of ordinary protest. The article gave no evidence that these people hadn't committed any crimes it just went on and on about investigative capabilities of HSI.

The indictment itself makes no specific mention of violence as far as I know because there was no actual violence committed. It's staggering that people are getting set multi-million-dollar bonds for what is essentially civil disobedience.

"Also, there's no mention of the ~10 million people who entered illegally under Biden. Is it democratic to have open borders? I get the sense this writer believes deporting people is opposed to democracy."

A few things to unpack with this statement. 10 million people never entered illegally, that number is derived from DHS reporting of 10 million encounters which includes people who are arrested, denied entry or removed. Also, that doesn't cover the fact that this was a recognized issue by Democrats hence why the party had the bipartisan border bill that was killed by Trump because he wanted the border as a political issue for the upcoming election.

vablings··on ICE Planning $100M 'Nightmare' Domestic Spy Program
Nobody has been in TPS for 16 years. The idea of TPS is that you can be provided with the ability to work and pull yourself up by the bootstraps then eventually transition into a more long-term status.
vablings··on ICE Planning $100M 'Nightmare' Domestic Spy Program
The name for TPS is not the program is temporary, rather the protection itself is temporary protection (hurr durr) until either the person can return home or seek other means of legal status.
vablings··on ICE Planning $100M 'Nightmare' Domestic Spy Program
Technically it's as soon as it's provided. Once you are a citizen the only way in which it can be revoked is if you are found to have committed fraud during the immigration process.

"there's no organic discoverability anymore"

This would imply that there have not been a large number of indie games that have rocketed in popularity which is just patently false. The so called "friendslop games" have been in and out of rotation now for about 2 years generating millions of dollars each.

When you have laser hair removal, the laser flash pumps a ton of energy into the hair follicle which essentially roasts the shit out of the hair follicle so it dies, usually it will re-product hair at some point but very thin, wispy white hair if any at all.

You need to shave your hair for laser hair removal since you don't want a long melting chunk of hair on your body that will cause serious burns. Hair dye will not color the root base of the hair meaning that heat energy will not travel down to the base as well and probably just destroy the pigment dye instead of the hair itself.

I would be inclined to doubt it based on the history of the group. Its more likely he is just a fall guy
vablings··on Meta and Microsoft take steps to reduce employee usage of Claude AI
That's pretty stupid. Most people who are incurring significant costs are just tokenmaxxing rather than being efficient with usage. You can get 99% of jobs and work done with Haiku/Luna in a collaberating working enviroment.

I feel like people who are later to the AI game just like to "oneshot" and sink a bunch of usage into generating garbage

vablings··on PS5 Jailbreaks Are Escalating at an Unprecedented Pace
The paperclip RCM was an oversight by Nintendo on the early switch models. It is not possible to do on later firmware's, I would HIGHLY recommend not trying to install the Pico fly yourself, it is much harder than you might think and the first time I tried I screwed up the capacitors on the APU and bricked the console.

This reminds me of a black comedy movie called The Lobster, People are essentially forced into confinement into a hotel until they find a romantic partner, otherwise they will be transformed into an animal of their choice.

If you couple up with someone you are evaluated in a compatibility period to which if you argue you get given a child, if you argue again, you get given a second child haha.

vablings··on NRC issues first U.S. construction permit for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor
Modular nuclear is a great idea, sadly right now and in the foreseeable future solar is absolutely king in terms of cost/kWH, we should build what makes sense for our needs with regards to power in the USA then worry about other tech later considering the state of our grid.
vablings··on NRC issues first U.S. construction permit for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor
4 hours at full tilt is pretty good, assuming that for the same volume you can store double the power in the next 15 years that means that you can replace those cells at end of service life and end up with 8 years ect.
vablings··on NRC issues first U.S. construction permit for a BWRX-300 small modular reactor
A nuclear power plant is a coal power plant except.

It has incredibly strict requirements for safety, we are talking SOP & Risk assesment for climbing up a 3ft ladder

There is a requirement for literally thousands of pounds of concrete to shield the reactor

The employees have to be highly qualified and trained.

The construction materials have to be validated, tested certified and then tested again during install to ensure conformance.

You must deal with spent fuel

They are not the same and cannot be retrofitted eitherways

vablings··on Samsung accidentally freezes its smart fridges with a software update
Fixed speed compressors are okay for AC condensers but for tighter applications like heat pumps a variable speed drive offers a good efficiency gain, the problem is there is no standardization established for the driving of say a variable motor since they are all redesigned and unique so when the controller goes kaputz you are out 3-4000 dollars for something that costs 30 dollars to manufacture

vablings··on Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence
I think you fundamentally misunderstand the purpose of research; Research is not always and is not commonly a problem in search of a solution it's the other way around, people find a topic of interest and race it out to conclusion and then share findings to allow other people to apply that knowledge.

As an avid consumer of both nicotine and caffeine I can say a few things.

Caffeine is way worse for me, the days that I consume zero caffeine I pretty much always end up with a migrate and minor. If I don't use my vaporizer, I get mildly irritated by not having it around but no prominent physiological effects

What a stupid, anti-intellectualism take. Quite literally every single thing you use in your daily life is deeply ingrained in the research of mathematicians for literally thousands of years.

The list is so long I couldn't even begin to describe
