andsoitis··on Jack Dorsey's New Voice Model
> We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence

Absolute claim. I like to interact with intelligence in various ways. Sometimes voice, sometimes thinking, sometimes writing, sometimes playing a sport, sometimes playing music, etc.

andsoitis··on Google illegally cut down 250K trees in Finland for data center
The Guardian is not an example of rage bait and click bait but is an an exemplar of solid journalism?

Why not news sources that eschew emotional manipulation, like Associated Press or Reuters. They aim for information rather than propaganda.

andsoitis··on Elon Musk Just Gave Europe a Reason to Replace American Technology
> during next economical cycle

what and when is the the "next" economic cycle?

andsoitis··on Don't throw it all away: Caching an immediate-mode UI
Looking at the screenshot of that UI I would argue a retained mode rather than immediate mode architecture is a better choice.
andsoitis··on Ask HN: Imposter Syndrome Resources
If after decades in a domain could it be that what they're feeling is something closer to relevance / being on the cutting edge (young vs old) rather than having imposter syndrome? If it is truly the latter, then I don't think they will ever get out of it - if after decades you are still not confident in your skills...
andsoitis··on How does Fable 5.1 hide messages in images?
> LLMs are more or less "trained on" everything,

I think this assumes that if something is trained on "everything" now it also knows "everything", including relationships, feedback loops, etc. between all the things. I find that unlikely.

andsoitis··on Ask HN: Imposter Syndrome Resources
> Governance, risk, compliance.

What experience does the person have in that field? For instance, have they worked at an audit practice (doesn't have to be one of the Big Four)?

andsoitis··on Ask HN: Imposter Syndrome Resources
which industry? I would have thought that resources for dealing with such feelings to be generic, universal.

andsoitis··on Only 13% of companies see real returns from AI, survey finds
Applying AI to existing processes that are human optimized will have a lower ceiling of returns than redesigning the company's org structure and processes from the top down and the bottom up.
andsoitis··on Every AI model has the same "controversial" take on humans
> why do they converge on nearly identical stories and opinions?

They’re trained by humans and human behavior fits a pattern. Models don’t have a mind of their own.

andsoitis··on The foolishness of "natural language programming" (1978)
> I used to do software dev without meetings. It worked just fine. I would send whatever I did once it was done, and get direction on where to take it next.

You didn’t collaborate with other engineers? Or what if the spec you were given was unclear in places? Forgive me, but the style you describe sounds incredibly collaborative, super transactional.

andsoitis··on Elon Musk pours $366M into midterm Republican campaigns
> Zuckerberg poured 500M into Democrat campaigns during the last administrative. Can someone please link to the CNBC article with outrage?

Here's an analysis from the Associated Press, which suggests you're information is not quite right: https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-mark-zuckerberg-ele...

andsoitis··on UPDATE: Anthropic's non-existant customer support
They have no moat. Switch.
andsoitis··on Revenge of the Nerds
Technology, and the minds behind it, tend towards

a) centralization (“the network is the computer” is sleight of hand),

b) authoritarianism (“I have the answer”, “my way is the right way”),

c) homogenization (“scale”, “leverage”, “reuse”).

andsoitis··on Why search engines penalised us for having a cool domain name
Penalized? When I google t9xt it is the first result after their AI summary.
andsoitis··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
The solution you suggest is necessary sounds absolutely horrible and very anti human.
andsoitis··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
The following come from beef, chicken, fish, eggs, and you don’t get from plants: Vitamin B12, EPA and DHA omega-3, Vitamin D3, Creatine, Taurine, Carnosine, retinol.

Plant provide, but less efficiently: iron, zinc, choline, calcium (some tofu provides, but depends on coagulant used), iodine.

On the flip side, plants provide fiber and numerous phytochemicals that meat, fish, and eggs lack.

andsoitis··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
So solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries?
andsoitis··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
> complete destruction of the global economy. This is not hyperbole. If nothing changes that's a completely realistic outcome within 50 - 100 years

Saying the global economy will be completely destroyed within 100 years does indeed sound hyperbolic, uninformed, alarmist, FWIW.

andsoitis··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
> clean energy hardware

This sounds interesting. Tell us more?

andsoitis··on The Future of CSS
Why would you pick something that isn’t ubiquitous? Being everywhere is the probably the most important feature for the vast majority of cases.
andsoitis··on Is Complexity an Illusion? (2024)
I couldn't tell from the abstract, do they define what they mean by complexity?
andsoitis··on Perplexity Computer now runs fully local on Mac
Why prioritize Mac? It can't be that they're hoping to be acquired by Apple, could it?
andsoitis··on Space X and Tesla exploring merger, CEO Elon Musk says
The flying Roadster was a small symbol of a glimpse of what might be possible when SpaceX and Tesla join forces.
andsoitis··on C# now beats Rust on WASM size
this looks phenomenal. Can't wait to try it out.
andsoitis··on Why do we have so many meetings?
Collaboration requires synchronization.
